Diet

Maintaining a healthy diet of a balanced diet of  three meals a day (or four smaller meals) is recommended to everyone and this is the same advice for people with Parkinson's. Some people think protein can affect how the drugs work, but further research is needed on this and you should never cut protein out of your diet. If you are worried about your diet contact your PDNS, who may if needed refer you to a dietician.

Current dietary advice is to eat a mixture of:

  • starchy foods - e.g bread, rice or potatoes
  • proteins - e.g meat, fish or beans
  • fruit and vegetables
  • dairy products
