Guidance for use of the forum PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTED COMMENTS ON THE FORUM:
- Be respectful of all users of the forum.
- Everyone is entitled to an opinion, if you disagree with
something someone has posted, that does not make them
wrong.
· Before making a post, consider how different people may interpret things in
different ways and what may be innocent to one person could be
offensive or upsetting to another. Often sarcasm or
humour doesn't always translate well on forums.
- Welcome new members to the forum and help and support them to get used to using the forum.
- Do not use swearing, explicit, obscene or vulgar language, images and/or
messages, including racist, sexist or homophobic remarks.
- Swearing in any form will not be tolerated.
- Do not bully or attack other forum members and consider whether your
post may be offensive. Abusive or offensive posts will be
removed. Users who act in this way may have their account
deleted.
- If you find a post offensive, consider whether the person who
posted it meant it to be so. People may be upset themselves, tired, stressed out or
having a bad day. Read your response before you post it and
consider whether it is reasonable and will not make things any worse for all involved.
- Do not reply to an offensive post in an angry way. Reacting may
encourage the person who posted it, and arguments on the forum
upset other users, not just those involved. Please reports such posts. We will act on all reports as soon as possible and will use our discretion to take whatever action we deem necessary. The decision of the moderators will
be final.

· It is against the forum rules to allow other people to post using your account. If you believe your account has been used by someone else, report this to the
moderators immediately.
· Do be aware of copyright regulations when posting on the forum. Do
not plagiarise or compromise the rights of other third parties. The SCPDN is
not responsible for information posted by users that violates
copyright law.
· Only post links to external websites that are relevant to the topic
and to Parkinson's. Irrelevant links will be deleted.
The SCDN does not endorse the content of external websites that
may be linked to through the forum.
· Please do not put personal email addresses on posts
· Be aware when using the forum or private messaging that the
internet provides a measure of anonymity, but. most people on
the forum will be entirely genuine, some users may pretend to be
someone else to manipulate others. The possible compulsive behaviours that some people
experience as a side effect of some Parkinson’s drugs may
complicate this and lead people to act in ways that is not their usual
character.
· Anyone you contact through private messaging will have your email
address. The SCPDN can not access emails sent so think carefully
before you send a private message. If you do not wish to receive
private messages, amend your account details accordingly.
Forum members sometimes arrange to meet each other. We do not recommend
Meeting anybody alone, and if you do plan to meet someone take a friend/relative/companion with you, and make sure someone else knows where you are. Any meeting should be done in a public place and only with extreme caution.
· The SCPDN does not accept posts from cost making firms or organisations, commercial organisations, their employees or families that advertise or promote particular products.
· Researchers should not use the forum or private messaging to
recruit members for their studies; the same applies to members of
the media.
· Please do not promote organisations, businesses or products, even
where you do not gain financially from them.
